The chairside device, TOPAS™ has proven to be a useful research use only tool in providing ALT BioScience™ with market development feedback for our next-generation oral care product, a point-of-care, in vitro diagnostic to aid in the diagnosis of periodontal disease. The test will be a single-use, disposable, generalized screening test for periodontal disease and will be considered a  broad-based test.  Upon FDA approval, this screening tool will be marketed initially to dental professionals  and  will act as an adjunct to the diagnosis of periodontal disease.  It will be an easily administered test used by a professionals and clinicians with a quick chairside response. 

ALT BioScience™ is currently finalizing the development and anticipates a release to the U.S. market in late 2008 to early 2009.  With emerging evidence of the link between oral and systemic health, the company's development pipeline also includes a future generation product with a delivery system marketed to medical professionals to aid in the diagnosis of periodontitis.
